Caernarvon 4th May Andy Owen, Morgan James II
First the good news: it’s a smashing boat, plenty of room, easy to fish from with good facilities – toilet and livebait tank.
Now the bad: we didn’t get to use the livebait tank. We didn’t expect to catch many mackerel but there were none showing at all. Andy moved several times and we tried all sorts of lures but nothing succeeded. No whiting either!
We had blast frozen blueys and mackerel which allowed us to catch plenty of doggies and one good huss to Chris. Jonathan caught a good-sized spider crab.
And it was cold and wet.
At about 4 o’clock the tide strengthened, stabilising the boat against the wind, and the sun came out – so did some tope (to blast frozen mackerel fillets). Four all together, the largest to Chris at just under 30lbs.
