Out from Holyhead on My Way, skippered by Gethyn Owen.
This was a new boat and skipper for us, neither the club nor any of its members had fished with them before
It was the first proper trip for the club this year, all the others have been cancelled – 7 because of wind and 1 because the boat owner had sold the boat. (The only trip so far was the 5 hour special for children & friends).
Although we got out, the strength of the wind restricted our activities – we couldn’t fish the Holyhead deeps and had to stay inshore. Nevertheless, some good fish were caught, amongst the small whiting and wrasse were pollack up to 6 - 7 lbs.
One or two heavier ballan wrasse came aboard, the biggest to Steve weighed by the skipper at 2lbs 3oz (it looked bigger).
The skipper provided plenty of tea and coffee, sausage butties at midday and two kinds of cake for afternoon tea! Plus a good banter.
Not one of the better fishing days but most of us enjoyed the experience. For a general fishing trip this boat is worth booking again.
